Probe into abandonment of baby

The Kalamassery police have launched a probe into the incident in which a three-month-old baby was found abandoned at the main entrance to a mosque near the Government Medical College.

The baby girl was first spotted by those who had gone to the mosque to offer morning prayers. On an alert, a police team rushed to the spot and admitted the infant to the neonatal care unit at the medical college. The condition of the baby is said to be stable.

The police have started collecting details about births reported in and around various hospitals in Kochi over the past few months.
