Valerie Kay Prothero, 57, of New Sewickley Twp., passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on Sunday, April 22, 2018, in Heritage Valley Beaver. She was born in Rochester on November 11, 1960, the daughter of Barbara Powell Horter, New Sewickley Twp. and the late Clarence "Joe" Powell. She was a 1979 graduate of Freedom High School and a graduate of CCBC. She was a LPN working 20 years with Blair Nursing Home and a Clinical Manager working with Rochester Manor and Villa for more than 8 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was a dancer and teacher for Louise School of Dance. She loved the Pirates, fishing and was an avid backyard photographer. She also was a leader in the Big Knob Livestock Club. She is survived by her three children, John Thomas (Nicole) Prothero III, New Galilee; Amanda Grace (Ricky) Wall, Daugherty Twp.; and Eric Joseph Prothero, New Sewickley Twp.; her significant other, Sam Landis, New Sewickley Twp.; nine grandchildren, Dominic, Hunter, Rey, Bella, Kailey, Gracie, Alexis, Dixie and Hope; two sisters, Kelli Rossi, Texas, and Beth (Jeff) Calahan, New Sewickley Twp.; a brother, Kevin (Michele) Powell, South Beaver; extended family, Jessica (Lance) Harpster, Staci Young, and Katie (Tyler) Fraser and their children, Logan, McKenzi, Kolby, Landon, Emma, Everett, and Kaylee. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES OF ROCHESTER, www.huntsmanfuneralhomes.com, 502 Adams St. A funeral service will be held on Friday in Grace Lutheran Church, ?393 Adams St., Rochester, ?at 11 a.m. conducted by her minister, the Rev.
