Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar took a stand for PM Narendra Modi today when people started trolling the Prime Minister over a picture of him with Asaram Bapu. Asaram Bapu got convicted for rape charges today by the Jodhpur Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Court. He was booked under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) act and Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.
After Asaram was convicted, he started trending on social media. Later, many people also started trolling Prime Minister Narendra Modi by posting a picture in which the PM was standing with the self-styled godman.
This did not go well with Farhan Akhtar and he requested people to stop sharing images of PM with Asaram. He uploaded a Twitter post where he called Asaram a child rapist. He defended PM Modi and said that patronising someone before he is exposed to be a criminal is not a crime.
He wrote, “So, Asaram is a child rapist. And he has been found guilty. Good. But can people please stop sharing images of him with PM Modi. Patronising him before he was exposed to be a pervert is no crime. Let’s be fair and give him the benefit of doubt that he, like us, did not know”.
