Even as most parts of Telangana including the capital Hyderabad were reeling under an intense heat wave with mercury touching a high of 42 degrees at many places, the power cuts were further adding to the woes of the people.

Apart from the districts and rural areas many parts of Hyderabad were also witnessing frequent power shutdown during the day and the night.

Such was the intensity of the heat that 15 deaths due to sunstroke were reported from Adilabad and Karimnagar districts over the last few days. The two districts of north Telangana recorded the highest temperature of more than 42 degrees while it was hovering around 41 in Hyderabad.

The Meteorolog-ical Centre in Hyderabad had warned that that high temperatures and dry weather were likely to continue for the rest of the week.

Though the state government has not announced any scheduled power cut anywhere the unscheduled power cuts have become a norm as the citizens were experiencing the power shut down many times during he day and the night. The complaints were frequent from the old city areas which are lagging behind in the civic facilities. The residents have complained that the power supply was disrupted during the day and night for one to two hours.
