Despite a thrust on promotion of cashless system, many government offices in Chandigarh Administration are still not yet equipped with the POS machines and are accepting only cash as payment.

Though a few months back,  Chandigarh Administration passed an order that no cash payment will be taken for an amount of more than Rs 500 but this is applicable only to the E-Sampark Centres, whose operation has been outsourced.

The cashless scheme so far is in operation only in E-Sampark centres and people use it for payment of all kinds of bills, including electricity, water and telephone bills.

In the Deputy Commissioner's office where several work related to public are done everyday, cashless payment is yet to begin.

Marriage registration counter, Society and Firms Registration counter, Gun license registration, Vehicle registration, driving license and other counters are dealing either with cash or Demand draft when the amount is big.

Not only in DC office, but other offices which deal with public too  lack digital payment platform.
