Annual Award Given For Notable Contributions Toward Reducing Healthcare Costs
Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes, Inc. (FOTO) today announced Dr. Jason R. Rodeghero as recipient of its annual D.L. Hart Memorial International Research Award, to recognize his research to identify predictive characteristics related to patients with shoulder pain, and to restore shoulder function while reducing healthcare costs.
Dr. Rodeghero’s peer-reviewed research study, Risk stratification of patients with shoulder pain seen in physical therapy practice, is co-authored by Cleland JA, Mintkem PE, and Cook CE. The study was selected for award specifically for showing how functional patient-reported data, derived from the Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes (FOTO) database, can be used to model and predict risk stratification of patients to identify effective physical therapy care.
Data from 5,214 patients with shoulder pain were analyzed to determine predictive characteristics that identify patients who either have a low-risk or a high-risk of a bad prognosis to physical therapy care. Dr. Rodeghero and his team used multinomial regression to identify significant patient characteristics predictive of treatment response. FOTO’s research database has been cited in 100 peer-reviewed medical journals.
