Winn-Dixie will hold a ribbon cutting Thursday morning for its newly remodeled location in southeast Cape Coral, with an event including free samples and giveaways for attendees.

The event will showcase the store's changes, according to a news release, including: an expanded produce department; expanded "grab-and-go" meal options at the deli; a new "Dollar Shop" with more than 600 grocery, cleaning, health and beauty items priced at $1; updated bakery and floral departments; new meat selections and new interior and exterior signage.

Meredith Hurley, a spokeswoman for the store, said in a news release that customers will be able to sample food at tomorrow's event. The ribbon cutting will be at 7:45 a.m., she said, and the first 500 attendees to arrive at 8 a.m. will get a store gift card with a value between $5 and $500.

The ribbon cutting comes on the heels of the company's announcement last month that it will close three Lee County stores, in south Fort Myers, San Carlos Park and Bonita Springs.
