3,000 posts vacant in Panchayati Raj Dept

More than 3,000 posts in different cadres are lying in the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department.

Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Pradeep Maharathy informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJP MLA Dilip Ray on Tuesday.

According to information, 154 posts in different categories are lying vacant in the departmental offices in the State Secretariat. The posts include Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Desk Officer, ASO, Assistant Audit Officer, Auditor and People.

Out of 314 blocks, 33 have no BDOs, 108 have no Account Officers, 137 have no Assistant Executive Engineer, 142 have no ABDO, 32 have not PEOs, and 52 have no Chaukidars. Similarly, seven of 30 districts have no District Panchayat Officers. 

A total of 173 Assistant Engineers, 356 Junior Engineers, 25 Sub divisional Panchayat Officers and 187 Panchayat Technical Officer posts are vacant. There are no Panchayat Executive Officers in 1012 gram panchayats, according to the Minister. Overall, 2,667 posts are vacant in the Panchayat Establishment.

Besides, 25 Additional Project Director and 78 Assistant Project Director posts are vacant in District Rural Development Agencies. Three Programme officers, 60 ASIs, 34 Senior Clerks and 292 Junior Accantant posts are vacant.

The Minister said steps are being taken to fill up all these posts as soon as possible.
