The Nasdaq Composite Index was trading lower for a fifth straight session early Wednesday, putting the broad-market index on track to log its longest losing streak since before President Donald Trump was elected in November of 2016. The technology-heavy equity gauge hasn't had consecutive losses of more than four sessions since that point some two years ago. Back then the Nasdaq finished lower for nine consecutive sessions, ended on Nov. 4, 2016, four days before Trump stunned Hillary Clinton to win the White House. On Wednesday, markets extended a downdraft from the previous session that was partially sparked by a rise in the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield above a psychologically significant level at 3%. The Nasdaq most recently was down 0.9% at 6,946, the S&P 500 index was off 0.5% at 2,620, threatening to breach its long-term trend line, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 0.6% at 23,890.
