BROOKFIELD — Attorneys will pick jurors next month in the case between the town and the retired controller who sued Brookfield over his pension payments.
Ray Bolek, the longtime controller, sued the town after Brookfield said it had been overpaying his pension benefits since he retired in 2002. The town asked him to pay back the $111,000 overpayment and planned to reduce his pension benefit from $3,180 a month to $2,650 a month afterward.
A Superior Court judge ruled Wednesday that jury selection will start May 29 in Litchfield Court. Jury selection was originally scheduled to begin May 22, but town attorneys asked to start a week later.
Bolek paid back the $111,000 to the town, but sued in 2016, claiming the town breached his benefits agreement. He has asked the town to return the $111,000 and restore his pension benefits back to $3,180 a month.
