Student found dead

Kevin Harry (19), who was preparing for his NEET examination, was found dead at his house in Rajaram Nagar on Tamil Sangam Road here on Wednesday.

The incident came to light when his mother Mary Rosaline entered his room around 5.30 a.m.

He was found lying unconscious on the bed.

The police said that he died due to suffocation as he wrapped his head and face with a polythene cover and tied a rope around it.

The body has been sent to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. No suicide note was recovered from the house and the police said that depression could be the reason behind his decision.

His father Lawrence is working as an engineer at the Karuppur Town Panchayat. Kevin Harry completed his Plus-Two last year and had undergone coaching for NEET at a private institute in Coimbatore. In the last two months, he was preparing for the examination sitting at home.

The police registered a case under Section 174 CrPC. Postmortem was done and the body handed over to relatives who took to Kanyakumari.
