Kick invites transfer for high-handed PSI

Acting swiftly after a video purportedly showing a police official assaulting a man went viral on the social media, Director General of Police Muktesh Chander ordered the transfer of the errant police sub-inspector Sudin Redkar, attached to the Sanguem police station, to the Goa Reserve Police force.

In the video, Redkar is purportedly seen kicking and abusing a  relative of a drowning victim, whose dead body can also be seen lying nearby.

“An inquiry has been initiated against the police sub-inspector after a video showing him abusing

a man was brought to the notice of the department. This is very bad. I have asked superintendent of police (South Goa) to conduct an inquiry and submit report immediately,” the DGP said.

Police sources said the man, his deceased relative and other friends are the residents of Margao. They had  ventured into a water body  for swimming in Sanguem taluka, where  one of them drowned.

When the PSI went to the spot to conduct an inquiry, he was reportedly annoyed as the dead person’s relative did not promptly reply to his question.
