Min unveils one-day Kranti Diwas in Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali’s memory

The Higher Education Minister of State Uttarakhand  Dhan Singh Rawat inaugurated the one- day Kranti Diwas observed in the memory of the Peshawar incident legend Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali at Pithsain under Thalisain Tehsil in Pauri district on Monday. After garlanding the statue of the legend,  Rawat said that the museum named after the legend would come up in Pauri soon and 50 brilliant youths of the State would be given the free coaching under a scheme to be named after Garhwali.

 He further said that after the completion of the formalities, an army school would be established in the area in the memory of the legend from Garhwal. Notably, Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali made history when he refused to obey the order of the British commander of the Garhwal Rifle squad to fire on the unarmed agitators who were participating in the civil disobedience movement  at Peshawar on April 23 1930.  Moreover, the soldiers from the squad lowered their weapons down in response to the call of Garhwali and in defiance of the order of the commander, a unique chapter enshrined in the saga of the freedom struggle in golden letters .

Rawat further assured that  while the Dang-Basoli and Dadoli- Seramandi motor roads would come up soon , the drinking water problem plaguing the people of Mauso would be solved and doctors would be appointed at the State-run medical facilities located in the area. He said that over 7000 families living in the area has benefited through  Saubhagya and Ujjawala Yojanas. “New gas agencies will be opened in the area.

Furniture is being distributed in the educational institutions from the primary  schools to the degree college,” he said.
