Nominations hit traffic for a six in Hubballi again

Hubballi: Traffic was thrown out of gear in Hubballi again on Tuesday, the last day of filing nominations.
As Mahesh Nalwad, Congress candidate at Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency, Chandrashekhar Gokak, BJP candidate at Hubballi-Dharwad East and many other candidates filed their nominations, commoners faced a tough time to reach their destinations on time. Traffic was stuck for almost two hours.

Nalwad’s procession started from Nagashettikoppa and reached the HDMC office via Keshwapur, Desai Circle, Club Road and Court Circle. At the other end, Gokak started his rally from Rudrakshi Mutt in Ghantikeri along with BJP workers and reached Sangolli Rayanna Circle via Dajiban Pet. During these processions, vehicles were stopped at Rani Channamma Circle, Deshpande Nagar, Keshwapur, Railway Station Area and Lamington Road and were diverted at many places.

Former BJP MLA Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi, who was denied a party ticket, also filed his nomination at Hubballi-Dharwad East constituency. BSP candidate Shobha Ballari, MEP candidate Sahadevapp Malagi, JD(U) candidate Saraswati Kattimani, Independent candidates Mohan Hiremani, Basavaraj Bhajantri and Gangadhar Perur were among the other candidates who filed papers in the same constituency.

In Hubballi-Dharwad Central, represented by ex-CM Jagadish Shettar, Shiv Sena candidate Vitthal Pawar, Samanya Janata Party candidate Srikant Magajikondi, Imran Khan Chouhan of MEP , RPI candidate M Mahadev Swamy, Raju Nayakawadi of JD(U) and others submitted their nominations.
