Theft Of $1.2M Worth Of Fajitas Nets Man 50 Year Prison Sentence

A former Cameron County Juvenile Detention Center employee has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for stealing $1.2 million worth of fajitas.

Texas prosecutors say for the past nine years Gilberto Escamilla accepted deliveries of fajitas at the center, then resold the food to his own customers.

The facility never served fajitas, so the staff never knew anything was missing.

However, the most interesting twist may be how Escamilla was caught. He took the day off and was not at work to receive an 800 pound shipment of fajitas last summer. That's when employees were alerted to the theft.
