Teenage sensation Rashid Khan roared back to form for Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday as his outstanding spell helped his team beat Mumbai Indians by 31 runs at the Wankhede stadium.

Rashid picked up 2 wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs and ended his spell with a maiden over as Sunrisers bowled out Mumbai for 87 while defending 118.

The Afghanistan leg-spinner was adjudged Man of the Match for his performance and he said he was glad to come back to form with the ball after a couple of disappointing performances.

The 19-year-old had conceded 49 runs for 1 wickets and 55 runs for 1 wickets in his previous two matches against Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab respectively.

"First of all thanks to mighty Allah for such a performance after a few bad games. It was needed for me. I learnt a lot of things and had a good chat with the coaching staff - [Tom] Moody, [Muttiah] Muralitharan, [VVS] Laxman - and I just relaxed and enjoyed myself. And it brought me success.

"Murali told that whatever happens you have to be relaxed and be calm and do the basics right. This game is all about enjoyment. Credit to how the management have kept us whether we win or lose," Rashid said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Hyderabad bowlers hunted in pack, with medium pacer Siddharth Kaul picking three wickets, while leg-spinner Rashid and pacer Basil Thampi picked took two wickets each. Sandeep Sharma, Mohammed Nabi and Shakib Al Hasan picked a wicket each.

Earlier in the first innings, put in to bat, the Sunrisers failed to recover from the dreadful start, of being reduced to 46/4 inside the powerplay, with Shikhar Dhawan (5), Wriddhiman Saha (0), Manish Pandey (16) and Shakib Al Hasan (2) all back in the hut inside the first six overs.

Skipper Kane Williamson waged a lone battle with a fighting 21-ball 29, laced with five hits to the fence before veteran Baroda batsman Yusuf Pathan (29 off 33 balls; 4x2, 6x1) took on the mantle, despite losing his partners at regular intervals.

It was Mumbai's joint-lowest score in the IPL as Hyderabad defended the lowest total at the Wankhede to register their first win out of 7 matches at this stadium. Overall it was the second lowest total defended by a team in the league's history.

Mumbai, who are languishing in 7th place with 2 points, can afford one more loss before they fall out of the race to qualify for the play-offs. Hyderabad meanwhile occupy the third spot behind Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings.
