Airtel plans 6k new sites in Guj

Vadodara: Telecom major Airtel on Tuesday announced plans to expand its network in Gujarat. The company plans to roll-out 6,000 new sites and 2,000 kilometres of optic fiber in 2018-19 for strengthening its mobile broadband footprint in the region.
“We will continue to invest aggressively in the region and take our network capabilities to the next level with more than 29,000 mobile sites by the end of this financial year,” said K C Narendran, CEO, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Gujarat. With this planned roll out, the number of Airtel’s mobile sites in the state will go up by 25%. Narendran said that Airtel currently has 14.5% market share in Gujarat and the number of internet calling users is going up steadily. tnn
