New Delhi : Congress chief spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala dubbed denial of ticket to the son of former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in the Karnataka Assembly elections as “no-confidence” in him.
Though the BJP is projecting him as the party’s CM candidate, Surjewala asked in a tweet: “Is BSY the next victim of Modi-Shah duo for Margdarshak Mandal?”
BJP President Amit Shah had constituted the Margdarshak Mandal to guide the party four years ago, but it never met, showing it to be a dumping ground.
Surjewala listed seven party veterans dumped like this, adding that “and the list goes on….”
He named them as L K Advani, M M Joshi, Keshubhai Patel, Suresh Mehta, Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha and Prem Kumar Dhumal.”
Only Advani and Joshi figure in the BJP’s Margdarshak Mandal, with others in it being bedridden former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Keshubhai and Suresh Mehta figuring in Surjewala’s list are former Gujarat CMs while Dhumal is a former Himachal Pradesh CM, while Jaswant Singh, who is also bedridden, and Yashwant Sinha, who quit the party on Sunday after picking faults with Modi for three years, are former union ministers.
