Vin Diesel is Directing an Animated Fast and Furious Series for Netflix

Vin Diesel is lending his know how to an animated Fast and Furious series that will debut on Netflix sometime in the near future. 

The series, which has yet to be given a name, will focus on Tony Toretto – the young teenage cousin of Vin Diesel’s character from the movie franchise, Dom Toretto. The show will focus on Tony Toretto, who is recruited by a secret agency to go undercover into an elite racing league that is serving as a front for a crime ring.

Dreamworks Animation will take care of the art for the animated series. Additionally, Diesel will serve as an executive producer on the project alongside Fast and Furious movie producers Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan. In a statement, DreamWorks Animation president Margie Cohn alluded to this being the first in a series of Universal films that will be adapted into animated series.

“We are excited to extend and expand our successful relationship with Netflix by not only delivering more high-quality DreamWorks programming, but connecting fans of Universal films with fascinating new stories,” said Cohn. “Our new home at Universal marks an exciting new chapter for storytelling at our studio, and Fast & Furious is only the beginning.”

It’s not yet clear when the animated Fast and Furious series will arrive on Netflix.
