Bra or no bra - that is the question. Millenial women are having a tough time deciding between the two as feminists and celebrities are touting going braless. But when it comes to what's best for your pair, what do you choose to decide? Let doctors weigh in to help you.
LACK OF RESEARCH: Well, when it comes to bras and health, sadly, there isn't enough research. But, for what we have, bras definitely are not making your life any better. Patricia Geraghty, a California-based nurse practitioner who specializes in women’s health, told a health website, “We don’t have any evidence that says going braless hurts you.”
THE 15-YEAR STUDY: An extensive 15-year long study by Jean-Denis Rouillon, one of very few conducted on the subject, concluded that bras do not provide any benefits. In fact, they may only be harmful.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T WEAR A BRA: As per the study by Rouillon, 300 women between the ages of 18-35 who did not wear bras developed muscle tissues that naturally supported their breasts.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WEAR A BRA: As per the same study, when you wear a bra, the restrictive material that they are made of prevents the breasts' ability to develop these support tissues. As a result, Rouillon believes that it may make the breasts sag even more.
