A 31-year-old Farwell man faces felony charges after police say he robbed at gunpoint a pizza restaurant employee leaving work with the night’s bank deposit Saturday.
Adam Pitt was arraigned in Clare County Monday afternoon on counts of armed robbery, a felony firearms charge and resisting/obstructing a police officer, according to a media release from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office.
His bond was set at $800,000 cash or surety and he remains lodged in the Clare County Jail after his arrest Saturday when police found him hiding near Farwell Elementary School some time after the armed robbery was reported at Bucilli’s Restaurant.
An employee leaving the pizza shop with the nightly bank deposit at closing time called police after a man wearing a black ski mask pointed a gun at him and demanded the cash.
That man —later identified by police as Pitt— fled on foot.
Clare City Police and a K9 were called to assist in the search, and officers tracked Pitt to the school.
Pitt was hiding in some bushes, where investigators also recovered a gun and $1,431.17 taken in the robbery, according to the release.
The CCSO was assisted by the Clare City Police Department and the Surrey Township Fire Department.
