Addressing a gathering of 5,000 workers and leaders on the foundation day of the Samata Kranti Dal held here on April 18, former Union Minister and founder of the Dal Braja Kishore Tripathy lambasted the present BJD regime in Odisha as the most corrupt and inept.

Tripathy reminded the audience of the CAG’s revelation of rampant corruption in the State. He said that there is a simmering discontent against the BJD Government among the people of the State due to a series of scams perpetrated during last 18 years like the mining scam, coal scam, Dal scam, malnutrition in Nagada and elasewhere in the State, etc. He alleged that it is the duty of the Government to prove itself clean of the chit fund scam where many of BJD leaders, including MLAs and MPs are involved and even there is finger raised at the Chief Minister. Tripathy alleged that the third floor of Secretariat (CM office) is directly involved in all these scams.

The honeymoon that exists between the present BJD regime and the NDA at the Centre has been proved beyond doubt as no action could be taken after the Shah Commission’s report on the mining loot in the State, said Tripathy. He also stated that agencies like CBI, Crime Branch and Vigilance have been made toothless as they act at the behest of the ruling party.

The former Union Minister also hit out at the  2018-19 State Budget which he said would neither mitigate the sufferings of the farmers nor solve the unemployment problems. He was happy that the Samata Kranti Dal will work in tandem with Jan Morcha and called upon other small political outfits to support his party for providing an alternative leadership to the people of the State.

Former West Bengal Minister Prabodh Chandra Sinha joined as the chief guest on the occasion. Prominent among others present were former Professor of Delhi University Shyam Gambhir, Delhi Socialist Party president Renu Gambhir, socialist leader of West Bengal Prof Najran Islam and Er Aurn Singh.

The chief coordinator and functionary of the party and former MLA Yagneswar Babu, Surendra Nath Das, Manoj Jena, Sarada Prasanna Swain, farmer leader Prabhat Samant, Dalit Samata leader Gayadhar Mallick, Saroj Satpathy, Lalita Mohan Patnaik, Bramara Parida and Amiya Pandab were present. Prasanta Mishra presided.
