LED campaign vehicle flagged off in Bokaro

Aiming to raise awareness about the causes of road accidents and measures to prevent them, Road Safety Week was kicked off in Bokaro. Bokaro DC MK Barnawal and SP Kartik S flagged off a LED campaign vehicle.

The week, which will end on 30 April, will see a host of events such as painting, poster-making contests, essay writing, Nukkar Natak, health camps and awareness programmes, said Barnawal.

This year, the theme is ‘Road safety, Life safety’, our aim is to reduce road accidents, said DC.

Over the next one week, several programmes focused on inculcating road safety values in vehicle owners, as well as schoolchildren, will be held across the district, as part of the Road Safety Week, said a district administration official.

Speaking at the launch of the Road Safety Week, SP Bokaro Kartik S said, there are various causes of fatal road accidents but most important are – not following traffic rules, unsafe driving and not following the speed limits.

A majority of the accidents are caused by two-wheelers which constitute about 80 percent of the road accidents occurs, said SP. He urges always to wear a helmet during driving a two-wheeler; ‘as a helmet is for your safety and protects your head avoiding injuries’, he said.

SP asked all to follow the road rules and carry your License and documents. It is mandatory for one to produce his driving license when asked by the traffic constable; “Make a habit of carrying your license,” added SP.

Besides others, DDC Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Prabhas Chandra Dutta, DSP Traffic Sunil Rajwar, Surendra Prasad, Vikash Hembrem, Govind Kumar were present during the event.
