SEATTLE (PRWEB) April 24, 2018
Autism Learning Partners (“ALP”) is a national leader and a full service provider in the treatment of autism and other developmental disabilities and is now serving Seattle and surrounding cities in Washington. ALP’s expansion to Seattle, addresses the service gap and alarming rise in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis while also developing jobs and training for constituents of Washington State. Operating since 1988 and serving 3,800 families yearly in 10 states, ALP has been a strong proponent of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA Therapy), the only evidenced based intervention recommended by the US Surgeon General. ABA is the cornerstone of ALP’s practice, supported by speech, occupational and physical therapists. Families in Seattle will now have greater access to in-home ABA services, early intervention services, social skills classes and parent training.
ALP’s, President and CEO, Jeffrey P. Winter, leads the expansion, with a passion for empowering families and providing access to quality clinical services. Mr. Winter indicates, “We’re committed to making progress possible for the families in Seattle and surrounding areas by employing the best clinical and local leaders who will put families first. Courtney Nolan, M.Ed., BCBCA, Associate Clinical Director, has more than 15 years of experience in Special Education and will lead our expansion in Seattle. Courtney indicates, “Intensive programming and highly individualized support that ABA provides is needed for families in the Seattle area. Many programs have extensive waiting lists and as such, many families are not able to access services quickly, something that can have a dramatic positive impact on their child and family unit as a whole.” ALP looks forward to bringing needed resources to Washington State.
Autism Learning Partners will serve as a resource center for families needing services and will invest in a complete clinical and operational infrastructure in Seattle. Families can get assistance navigating the insurance system, find a local ASD diagnosing provider and obtain access to all resources necessary as they enter their journey with ASD. ALP will also empower the local workforce by creating management and Behavioral Technician jobs and training in Seattle.
ALP has also invested in a robust workforce development training program designed to train individuals interested in the special needs field. Under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Behavior Technicians work one-on-one with individuals with ASD and implement an individualized treatment plan in the home, in schools and in the community. Mr. Winter indicated that a new ALP office, such as Seattle, can often create over 100 jobs in the first couple of years of operation.
The number of ASD diagnosis continues to rise at rapid rates. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) indicates that 1 in 68 children have been diagnosed with ASD (1). Advocates continue to push for quality early intervention services. Research demonstrates, as summarized by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, high-quality early intervention services can change a child's developmental path and improve outcomes for children, families, and communities (2). ABA services are funded by private insurance and Medicaid, making it easier for families to access services.
Autism Learning Partners has created a strong clinical and operational ASD pipeline to support the local community. ALP is interested in collaborating with families, local medical professionals, pediatricians, early interventions programs and schools who can together, collaborate and make progress possible for families touched by ASD.
