34,095 State youths registered on skill portal

A total of 34,095 youths have been registered so far on the portal of skill development committee, said the Secretary Skill Development, Pankaj Kumar Pandey while inaugurating a technical and training workshop on pastry chef, house- keeping and automotive trades held at ITI in Dehradun on Monday. He said details of youths, trainers and payment have been made online on web portal to ensure quality and anybody seeking information can visit www.uksdm.org for details.

Pandey said that a target to train 10,000 youths last year was taken by the department against which 12,000 youths under 32 sectors in 300 centres were trained by 120 trainers. He said that a total of 3475 youth have been provided employment by the department.

Wishing for the bright future of the trainees, Pandey said that pastry chef, house- keeping and automotive fields have great job opportunities.  He said that Uttarakhand Skill Development Committee has been formed to generate employment opportunities for youth in the state. He said committee has been training youths with limited resources and implementing national level Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in the state.  Under this scheme, 50,000 youths are to be trained in three years.

Pandey informed that the Committee has organized skill development training for inmates of Dehradun, Haridwar, Sitarganj and Haldwani Jails and at present, 58 inmates are being imparted training on organic agriculture in  Dehradun jail.

He added that a mobile App, 'Kushal Uttarakhand’ has been launched so that youth living in remote areas could get job by registering on it.

Nodal Officer Skill Development mission and deputy director employment Chandrakanta, Principal ITI (women) Dinkar Rautela and Vice President Rustomji Academy Kavi Luthra and others were present on the occasion.
