Port Orange Democratic Club to meet
The Port Orange Democratic Club will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Port Orange YMCA Childcare Center, 4701 City Center Parkway. Social half hour will be at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Ronald Durham, candidate for Volusia County Council At-Large Seat will speak. New England Club to meet
The New England Club will meet 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at 720 N. Frankfort Ave., DeLand. This will be the last meeting for the 2017-18 season until the startup in November 2018. Mutt Strutt
The Halifax Humane Society will host its annual Mutt Strutt 8 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Daytona Beach Bandshell, 70 Boardwalk, Daytona Beach. The Mutt Strutt is a 5k Fun Run and Walk-a-thon on Daytona Beach for the only day of the year that dogs are allowed on Daytona Beach. Military officers' ROTC dinner
The Halifax Chapter of the Military Officers of America (MOAA) will meet host its annual Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University ROTC award dinner 5 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Halifax River Yacht Club, 331 S. Beach St., Daytona Beach. Commanders and cadets will be attending from ERAU Army, Navy, and Air Force units. All area MOAA members and their spouses and friends are invites to attend. Ormond Beach mayor name Home Rule Hero
The Florida League of Cities recently recognized Ormond Beach Mayor Bill Partington as a 2018 Home Rule Hero. Partington earned this award for his efforts to advance the League's legislative agenda and help protect the Home Rule power of Florida's cities during the 2018 legislative session. Home Rule is the ability for a city to address local problems through and by local decision makers with minimal state interference. For information, call 386-676-3315.
Deltona audit
The City of Deltona undergoes an independent audit each year which includes all City departments as well as Deltona Water. Annual audits are required to comply with State law, accounting standards, and grant regulations. Audit reports for the city dating back to 2010 are available on the city’s website, deltonafl.gov.
