Four terrorists were gunned down while two security personnel lost their lives during an encounter in Pulwama's Tral on Tuesday.
An army jawan and a police jawan died while fighting terrorists in the operation.
Earlier today, security forces rushed to Lam village after several gunshots were heard in the area.
Immediately after, the security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in the area. The operation is still underway.
The encounter comes a day after Pakistan Army violated ceasefire along the Line of Control at Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district.
Pakistani troops on Monday targeted forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district with mortar shells and gunfire in violation of the ceasefire.
"Pakistan army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 1730 hours today in the Krishnaghati sector along the LoC", the Army official had said.
