Betty A. DeVaux Monaca Betty A. DeVaux, 86, of Monaca, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, in Rochester Manor. Born November 25, 1931, in Brighton Twp., she was the daughter of the late Harold A. and Eva Bryner. Betty was a devout member of Monacrest Free Methodist Church in Monaca where she was a delegate to numerous church conferences and held many positions in the church, which included Women's Missionary Society Treasurer, responsible for vacation bible school refreshments, a steward and a choir member. A person who loved her Lord and Savior, she was a prayer warrior and always volunteering to help people. Betty was a former band parent and PTA member, loved lighthouses, playing pinnacle, John Wayne movies, was a diehard Pittsburgh Pirate's fan and loved to crochet blankets or afghans for newlyweds and new born babies. She made the best lady locks ever - at Christmas, she would make dozens of lady locks and give them to friends, family and her daughter, Darlene's supervisor. She was also known for her clover leaf rolls and homemade noodles. Betty is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Lee) McCarrell and Kimberly (Jeff) Halavanja; six grandchildren, Jason Davidson, Karen McCarrell, Nicholas Halavanja, Kayla Halavanja, Lee (Ellen) McCarrell, Danial McCarrell (Bridget Shepard); two great-granddaughters, Fiona and Katelyn McCarrell; a brother, Harold W. (Mary) Byrner; two sisters, Velva (James) Krepps and Diana Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Cecil DeVaux, on January 8, 1999; two sisters, Dorothy (Paul) Brooks and Grace (Phillip) Hart and a brother-in-law, Robert Williams. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca (724-728-4000). Friends will also be received on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in the Monacrest Free Methodist Church, Monaca, with Pastor Deano Pulice from the Park Ridge Free Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Sylvania Hills Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made, in Betty's memory, to a charity of the donor's choice.
