Barbara Lantz Kight, 91, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly at 1:21 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Grant Hospital, Columbus. She was born on February 9, 1927, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to the late Eddress Abbott. Barbara was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Kight, Jr.; her dear stepson, Lawrence C. Kight; the father who raised her, George Abbott, Jr.; a sister, Gloria Matthews; and a brother, George Abbott. Barbara is survived by nieces, Dr. Catherine Eckel, Dr. Meredith Ellis, Paula Senn, and Wanda Milton, of Amhurst, Va.; great nieces, Bridgett and Stephanie; children, Karen Morrison, James (Jennifer) Kight, Rebecca Kight, and Linda (Chris) Stickler; several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Barbara retired from Mead Central Research where she served as Manager of Human Resources. She attended Lynchburg Community College in Lynchburg, Va. and Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. Barbara served on the Board of Trustees at Governor's Place Condo Assoc. and the Salvation Army's Advisory Board. She volunteered at the Adena Regional Medical Center, the Thrift Shop and attended the First Christian Church in Chillicothe. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the WARE FUNERAL HOME, Chillicothe, Ohio, with Pastor Vanessa Myers-Dudley officiating.
