Man killed dog with axe during Esperance attack, police allege

A man from the WA coastal town of Esperance has been charged with animal cruelty over allegations he killed his two year-old dog with an axe.
Police alleged the 61-year-old man attacked the labrador-border collie cross with the axe sometime between 1:00pm and 11:00pm on Saturday, April 21.
They say the dog later died from its injuries.
The man, from the Esperance suburb of Nulsen, is due to appear in the Esperance Magistrates Court on May 15.
