Rizvi wins air pistol silver

Trailing by 4.3 points catches up on last six shots

Shahzar Rizvi fought brilliantly to bridge the gap but ended up winning the silver 0.2 point behind Artem Chernolisov of Russia in men’s air pistol in the shooting World Cup here on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Rizvi trailed by 4.3 points but caught up on the last six shots. It was the first medal for the Indian camp in the World Cup.

In men’s trap, Manavjit Singh Sandhu slipped to 24th with a total of 117, as he missed the final by four points. After having been in a good position at 73 out of 75, Manavjit shot 21 and a 23 in the last round was of no help.

Mauro De Filippis of Italy overtook the qualification topper Jiri Liptak of the Czech Republic for the gold. At the half way stage in rapid fire pistol, Neeraj Kumar and Anish Bhanwala shot 286 out of 300, ten points behind the leader, as they were below their best in the 4-second series.
