The Sewickley Academy and Quaker Valley boys tennis teams moved one step closer to a WPIAL Class 2A championship showdown Monday, as both advanced to the championship semifinals.
Sewickley Academy, seeking a 15th consecutive WPIAL team championship, dispatched visiting Knoch by a 5-0 count on Monday.
The Panthers will play South Park, a 4-1 winner over Valley on Monday, in one semifinal Tuesday at Moon.
Quaker Valley, meanwhile, slipped past Thomas Jefferson, 3-2, on Monday and will play defending WPIAL runner-up Indiana at Valley on Tuesday.
Indiana ended Blackhawk’s title hopes with a 5-0 win over the Cougars on Monday.
