Narsapur civic chief, councillors tender resignations

Complain of inaction on their complaint against municipal D.E.

In a sudden development on Monday, 16 councillors and the chairperson belonging to the ruling Telugu Desam Party resigned to protest against the attitude of the top officials in the Municipal Administration department.

Addressing the media in Narsapur, chairperson Pasupuleti Ratnamala said all the ruling party council members, including a few YSRCP councillors, had appealed to the government to transfer municipal divisional engineer Srikanth and represented the matter to local MLA B. Madhava Naidu. She said that their repeated pleas to transfer the D.E. on the grounds that he was not discharging his duties and not supporting development works, including pipeline works, under the SC Sub-Plan and other funds, fell on deaf ears.

‘No response’

Ms. Ratnamala said they had written several letters to the Engineer-in-Chief of the Municipal Administration department besides sending representations to Minister P. Narayana.

However, neither the officials nor the Minister had responded to their appeals, forcing them to put in their papers.

All the 16 councillors along with the chairperson met the Commissioner in the evening and submitted their resignations.
