Finland Will End Universal Basic Income Experiment After Two-Year Trial PeriodFinland's government decided not to move forward with its experiment to offer citizen a universal basic income after the two-year trial, according to CBS News. Finland was the first country in Europe to start the program in January 2017 by offering to pay some of its unemployed citizens a basic monthly income of around 560 euros ($587) per month in the social experiment that aimed to curb government red tape while reducing poverty and increasing employment.
