BATHINDA: Alleging negligence on the universtiy's part, the students of the Central University of Punjab blocked Bathinda-Talwandi Sabo road on Tuesday. The students were protesting against the negligence in providing prompt treatment to a students after he suffered cardiac arrest on Monday evening. The students alleged that the deceased, Sushant Sagar, died as authorities failed to provide quick medical aid in first 30 minutes.
The 22-year-old Sushant fron Sahara in Bihar was pursuing post graduation in Biochemistry and was in the 4th semester. He was playing Basketball on late Monday evening in the university when he suffered a cardiac arrest. The accompanying students rushed Sushant to health center in the university where proper facilities were lacking, alleged the students.

The university vice-chancellor RK Kohli met the protesting students and assured of a proper probe into the incident.

However, the students said they will not call off the protest till justice is provided and a suitable compensation is given to the bereaved family.
