NEW DELHI: A 59-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her brother following an argument over his drug addiction in west Delhi's Vikaspuri area, police said on Tuesday.

The woman, identified as Ashwani, was taken to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Janakpuri on Monday where she was declared brought dead, Vjay Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (West), said.

Her mother, who was a witness in the incident, told the police that the woman was allegedly stabbed by her younger brother Latinder (33).

Latinder is a drug addict, the official said, adding that his sister used to question him about his addiction.

On Monday, he asked for money to buy drugs, which led to an argument. The accused picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her twice, he added.

A case was registered and subsequently, he was arrested, the official said.
