Liverpool transfer news: Lionel Messi attempting to scupper Jurgen Klopp's summer plans

The Reds have been heavily linked with Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen in recent months.

And the Dutchman is likely to be keen on a move to the Premier League after spending the entire season as Marc-Andre ter Stegen's understudy.

Cillessen has only featured in the Copa del Rey this season but is still being chased by a number of clubs.

But Messi is attempting to scupper any chances of the shot-stopper leaving the club.

According to Don Balon, the Barcelona legend sees Cillessen as a key part of the Catalan outfit despite his lack of gametime.

The publication reports that club chief Josep Maria Bartomeu is now keen to ensure the former Ajax stopper remains at the club beyond the summer.

Liverpool are likely to be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper even if a move for Cillessen fails to materialise.

Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have been criticised since their respective arrivals at Anfield, despite the former enjoying a rich vain of form of late.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

The Brazilian will get his chance to audition for Jurgen Klopp when the two sides meet in the Champions League semi-final next week.
