Indore: IDA to build 6 lane-flyover at Pipliyahana, CM to lay foundation stone


Indore: Indore Development Authority will build a six-lane flyover along ring road at Pipaliyahana square whose foundation stone will be laid by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on April 25. To be built at cost of Rs 36 crore, it will reduce traffic congestion around Pilpliyahana square where 1.05 lakh vehicles pass through every month.

Indore Development Authority chairman Shankar Lalwani on Monday said the IDA has completed the drawing, designing, awarding tender and issuing work orders for the bridge, which will be completed in 18 months. Mayor Malini Gaud and local MLAs will be present on the occasion.

Lalwani said contract has been awarded to Varodara-based construction firm DR Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd. Justifying the requirement for construction of the bridge, he said IDA had carried out survey, which suggested that construction of flyovers can reduce heavy vehicular traffic that passes through Pipliyahana and Shivaji Vatika squares.


Indore Municipal Corporation will build a flyover at Shivaji Vatika square while IDA will build it at Pipliyahana square. Briefing about flyover, IDA CEO Goutam Singh said this will a-2 arm, 6-lane flyover, which will be 750- metre long and 24-metre wide. “This will be magnificent example of a smart flyover, where state-of- art technology will be used. Landscaping on either side will also be a part of project,” he said.

Revised estimate for elevated corridor at BRTS in 2 weeks

According to Lalwani, IDA had presented a proposal about elevated corridor to union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari during his visit to city. He suggested an elevated corridor of 50-tonne load capacity instead of 100 tonne. The IDA has drafted a revised project plan and this will be sent to ministry in 15 days.

Dead end of Super Corridor End, it would be joint Dhar road IDA CEO Goutam Singh also informed that as per the plan the supper corridor’s Bijasan Hill side dead end would be finished and the road would be extended up to Dhar road linking Pithampur. IDA is working on this direction.
