It did not seek ‘National Status’ for any project in TS

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao alleged the Congress party has been trying to emotionally blackmail political parties by branding them as supporters of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre.

“The recent statement made by All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi is highly objectionable and irresponsible”, he said. Rahul Gandhi blamed the TRS of acting in favour of the BJP, he said.

“Both these parties are responsible for the present state of affairs in the country and for us the interests of the nation and Telangana are more important than bringing down Narendra Modi from the seat and making Rahul Gandhi sit in that,” commented Mr. Harish Rao while speaking to reporters here on Monday.

“The comments made by Mr. Rahul Gandhi that the TRS has been trying to divide the votes of Congress shows his lack of understanding. The TRS has fought against the BJP when seven mandals of Telangana were merged with Andhra Pradesh after division and the Congress party was silent”, he observed.

“Why did the party remain silent when no project from Telangana was accorded national status while Polavaram got that status? Why was Congress not uttering a single word when investment subsidy is not being offered in industrial and IT sector for Telangana?” he asked. Lok Sabha members K. Prabhakar Reddy, B.B. Patil, MLA Chinta Prabhakar and others were present.
