Salmon gets a flavor boost from puttanesca, a piquant Italian sauce traditionally reserved for pasta.

This recipe comes from the “Giada’s Italy” (Clarkson Potter, $35), a new book by Giada De Laurentiis, a popular Food Network host.

“Like so many Italian sauces, this one can be served with just about anything that needs a gutsy accent,” de Laurentiis said.

She said this is a great alternative for people who get bored of eating fish plain or the same way all the time.
