Police suspect personal enmity to be the motive

The Mangalam police on Monday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a rowdy at Karikkalampakkam on April 21.

The police gave the name of the arrested as Rajadurai alias Iyyanar and Vinayagam alias Vinayagamoorthy, both residents of Karikkalampakkam. The duo had allegedly hacked to death Devadoss because of personal enmity.

Senior Superintendent of Police Apoorva Gupta said the accused had confessed that they had a long- standing enmity with the victim.

The accused persons and the victim were trying to establish their supremacy in the area.

While Iyyanar and Devadoss were in jail recently, they were engaged in a wordy duel, she said. Iyyanar hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Devadoss after coming out on bail, she added.
