THANE: A Mumbra builder has filed a police complaint claiming that he has been receiving calls from fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari demanding Rs 2 crore.
Rakesh Bhagat (40) said since February 15, he has received several calls from an international number where the caller identified himself as Pujari and said he was speaking from Australia. Bhagat claimed that a man, identified as Shazad, who had encroached on his land, had hired Pujari. “Pujari told Bhagat to give Rs 2 crore, failing which he would kill him,” an officer said. The next day, Pujari told him that “his opponents had given him Rs 3 crore to keep him away from the disputed land”. When Bhagat said he didn’t have the money, Pujari threatened to bump him off. tnn
