Pak national sentenced to prison

A 41-year-old man, a Pakistani national, was sentenced to five years in prison for forging an Indian passport on Tuesday.

According to the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, the man Mohammed Nazeer was arrested by Gujarat Police in August 2013. He then told the investigators that he had stayed in Barkas of Hyderabad and worked as a medical practitioner. Subsequently cases were registered under IPC sections 420, 468 and 471 besides sections under the Foreigners Act at Chandrayangutta Police Station.

He was brought to the city and remanded to judicial custody, while the police filed charges against him. On Tuesday, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate held Nazeer guilty under sections 471 and 420, while sentencing him.

Murder case solved

Police on Tuesday arrested six persons accused in the murder of a known criminal in Regimental Bazar.

Syed Fareed, 26-year-old, was allegedly killed by K. Mallesh, H. Narasima, H. Amar, Vijaya Lakshmi, Shiva Kumar, Subash Birdar and four others absconding. The accused told the police that they killed Fareed as he was harassing them for money.

The police zeroed in on the accused after examining CCTV footage from the area. Fareed was stabbed and hit on the head, the police said.
