Tattered roads give DVC residents nightmares

Almost 65 years have passed since GM colony, Six Unit, Nisanhut, and Ambedkar-nagar roads came into existence,  but the residents and motorists have  nightmarish experience when  they travel on these roads.

The totally tattered roads have potholes at many points. The roads, except a few , were repaired about ten years ago. With elected representatives and DVC officials paying little attention to carry out repair and maintenance works ,the roads have suffered extensive damage, said an employees of DVC, BTPS.

Stating that the roads had become unfit for smooth ride within a few months of formation apparently due to poor quality, a resident said that they had failed to withstand even a single rain. Since then no repair or maintenance work was taken up. Lamenting that the DVC authorities was responsible for the poor condition of roads another local DVC employees said the local private house holders ,who dug roads to provide drinking water connection to the newly constructed houses had never closed them properly .It had damaged the roads of colonies.

“We find it extremely difficult to drive two-wheelers due to the poor condition of the colonies roads .Besides causing body ache ,two –wheelers often face problems,"an employee of DVC. Pointing out the absence of inner roads since the formation of residential colonies, they said the an employees of DVC had been facing nightmarish experience to reach their quarters and houses.

The sufferings got doubled during monsoon periods. Meanwhile local DVC employees said that several representations were sent to civil officials of DVC demanding repair, rehabilitation of roads and formation of inner roads, their demands were yet to get proper response.
