The Real Camilla: Duchess of Cornwall ‘hid under duvet’ before marrying Prince Charles
CAMILLA featured in a new Channel 5 documentary titled Diana to Meghan: Royal Wedding Secrets last night, but it was revealed that the Duchess of Cornwall “hid under her duvet” before tying the knot with Prince Charles.
Royal biographer Penny Junor revealed that Camilla was “frightened” about the public’s reception.
Forever in the shadow of the late Princess Diana, the royal biographer added that the 70-year-old Duchess “refused” to get out of bed for the wedding.
Penny said: “Camilla spent the night before the wedding at Clarence House.
“That morning - the morning of her wedding, she hid under the duvet and absolutely refused to come out.
“She was so frightened, she had to be coaxed out of bed.
“Her sister was there, her daughter was there, her dresser was there.”
Penny added that it was only when Camilla’s sister Annabel Elliot arrived that the Duchess was able to be coaxed away from her duvet.
She continued: “It was only when her sister said, ‘Right, I’m going to put your clothes on and I’m going to go and do this for you,’ that she got out of bed.
“She was terrified, and quite rightly.
“Nobody knew what kind of reception she was going to get.”

It comes as Camilla let the TV cameras into her home for the first time and allowed them to follow her for a year in ITV’s The Real Camilla documentary.
In tonight’s programme, Camilla revealed that she has been haunted by a ghost.
The Duchess explained: “If you could have seen it when the Prince first spotted it, you wouldn’t have believed it was the same house.
“It was so sad and un-lived in, unloved and neglected. And it had a really eerie feel about it.
“There was definitely a ghost — without a shadow of a doubt.

“I walked up the steps, got into the hall and I thought I can’t go any further.
“I literally froze. If my hair could stand on end, it would have done.
“I remember thinking I don’t want to come back and I didn’t for a few years.”
After £45 million of renovation work, Camilla did return several years later.
By this time, the the spirit had seemingly disappeared.
Camilla added: “I walked in and whatever was there had disappeared. The whole thing seemed to be smiling again.”
The Real Camilla is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
