After nearly two years  of  bickering and  internecine battle  the  first family of the Samajwadi party  have resolved  the contentious  issues and Shivpal Yadav, the warring uncle of  the party chief Akhilesh Yadav, along with his supporters are likely  to be accommodated in the party organization.

At the same time with the thaw in the first family of the party has set the alarms bell ringing for the party leaders who had launched broadside against the party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav at the height of the battle. These leaders had staged a demonstration against SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav when action was taken against the then chief minister Akhilesh Yadav at the fag end of 2016.

Earlier this week there was long meeting between the warring cousins Ram Gopal Yadav and Shivpal Yadav. The relations between Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav have also improved after the Rajya Sabha elections held on March 23.   The two developments have warmed the hearts of the rank and file of the party but causing tension among the leaders who had taken sides during the battle within the first family.

“We are now in a piquant situation because the warring leaders are patching up. We will obviously be targeted and we do not know how strongly the party president will defend us. The rapidly changing situation in the party is giving us sleepless nights and we are wary about our future,” said one of the leaders, known as a strong Akhilesh loyalist.

The Akhilesh loyalists, who are also legislators, had taken it upon themselves to fight the family battles. They would consistently ignore Shivpal Yadav and other senior party leaders who owed allegiance to Mulayam.  Shivpal, if and when he came to the attend the state assembly session, would remain isolated in the back benches and the Akhilesh loyalists would not even greet him. Now with Shivpal Yadav likely to return to the leadership ranks soon, it is there legislators who are feeling uncomfortable.
