It was my decision, says Yeddyurappa

In a bid to douse the raging fire over denial of ‘B’ form to his son B.Y. Vijayendra, BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa said here on Monday that it was his decision and not that of the party high command.

“I took this decision before boarding the flight from Bengaluru to Mysuru around 11 a.m. as I did not want the stigma or criticism of the BJP as promoting dynastic politics,” he said.

In a brief interaction with the media, Mr. Yeddyurappa said it was more prudent to utilise the popularity of Mr. Vijayendra so that he could campaign across Mysuru and Chamarajanagar and help the party win more seats. “We have not won many seats in this region and hence I though it fit to use his popularity to help the party gain more seats,” he said. When questioned about the impact of this decision on voting trends as it would send wrong signals to the electorate, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he plans to visit four to five constituencies daily and explain the reason for the decision.
