Here's where you can take your unwanted drugs on Drug Take-Back Day

As the opioid epidemic rages on nationwide, local health officials want you to clear your medicine cabinets of any extra drugs.

“Unwanted, expired or unused prescription medications are often an unintended catalyst for addiction,” said Dr. Karyl Rattay, director of the state Division of Public Health. “Participating in Drug Take-Back Days provides the average person a concrete way they can make a difference in the ongoing opioid epidemic our state is facing. By taking the important step of cleaning out medicine cabinets, you can make your home safe from potential prescription drug abuse or theft.”

Last year, 345 Delawareans died from drug-related overdoses, a 12 percent increase from 2016. Already this year, the state has reported 80 suspected overdoses.

On April 28 – which is Drug Take-Back Day – here's where you can turn in your medications. The following sites will be open between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., unless noted as a permanent drug take-back location.
