Samarpan Divas marks Mahatma Hansraj's birth anniversary celebrations

Over 900 educational institutions of DAV fraternity from across India converged at Panchkula to pay rich tributes to Mahatma Hansraj during Samarpan Divas-- a celebration of the birth anniversary of the educationist par excellence and great nationalist.

PadmaShree Awardee DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, president  Dr Punam Suri said that the objective behind commemorating Mahatma Hansraj Jayanti as ‘Samarpan Divas’ is to rededicate ourselves towards the values which were adopted by the great soul at the time of the inception of the DAV Movement.

"Hansrajji's sacrifice and guidance is echoing all over the world through the remarkable work done by the DAV institutions," she said adding that in the present times, there is a need to revive the cherished Indian tradition of Guru-Shishya relationship which thrives on mutual understanding and respect.

During the function, Haryana DGP BS Sandhu, and Punjabi University Patiala vice-chancellor Professor BS Ghuman were honoured with ‘Vishishth Samman’ for their remarkable contribution in the field of social development and education. Besides, eight distinguished vedic scholars, nine aryasanyasis, illustrious alumni of the various DAV institutions were also honoured. Eight sportspersons with outstanding international achievements, including recnetly concluded Commonwealth games medal winner Manika Batra,  were also honoured on the occasion.
