Cape Town – A notice announcing the newborn prince’s birth has been placed on an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace.

In keeping with royal tradition, the notice provides details including time of birth as well as an update of mom and baby and will be displayed until replaced by a notice announcing the name chosen for the baby.

A large Union Flag was also raised over Buckingham Palace and a State Standard over Windsor Castle to mark the birth.

 William and Kate welcomed their third child on Monday - which is also St. George's day, England's national day.

According to Sky News the police and security are currently making sure all bags in the area have been searched and are declared and more security are in the area in preparation for some form of arrival, perhaps Prince George and Princess Charlotte, or for the royal couple to introduce their new bundle of joy to the public.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to appear on the steps of the St Mary’s Hospital Lindo Wing for the first official photos of the baby shortly.
